About the Role
Join a global leader trusted by businesses from small firms to top brands, providing dependable financial insights and processes essential for strategic decision-making. As part of EY's Assurance ECL Valuation team in Dubai, you'll specialize in auditing credit risk models (IFRS 9) used by leading financial institutions across the MENA region. This position combines technical expertise with audit rigor to ensure transparent and trustworthy financial reporting.
Key Duties
- Serve as a subject matter expert for credit risk model audits, focusing on IFRS 9 compliance.
- Review model development and validation documents, assessing model accuracy and reproducibility.
- Evaluate credit risk-related processes including governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct substantive audit testing and analysis related to IFRS 9 and credit risk measurement.
- Support diverse banking risk issues contributing to regional and national initiatives.
- Monitor evolving IFRS 9 standards and assist in developing or validating credit risk and challenger models.
Skills and Experience
- Background in credit risk modelling within financial or consulting environments.
- Solid grasp of credit risk techniques and regulations like IFRS 9 and CECL.
- Practical experience with model development, validation, and performance assessment including PD, EAD, and LGD models.
- Proficient in programming languages such as SAS, R, or Python for model analysis.
- Comprehensive understanding of credit risk governance and documentation standards.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Effective planning, project management, and ability to build internal and external networks.
- Capability to articulate risk and financial requirements across departments.
- Adaptability to work across various banking risk projects.
- Mentoring abilities for developing junior team members and enhancing modelling efforts.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving aptitude.
Qualifications and Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in credit risk modelling or related audit roles; 5+ years preferred for managerial positions.
- Experience in data extraction, preprocessing, modular model development, validation, and performance evaluation.
