DTP Operator

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and meticulous DTP Operator to join our book publishing team. The successful candidate will focus on designing pages, typesetting, formatting multilingual texts, preparing artwork, and producing print-ready files for books and educational materials. This role demands proficiency in key design software and the ability to work with multiple languages.

Key Responsibilities

• Layout and typesetting for educational publications such as books, guides, and question banks using PageMaker and InDesign.
• Formatting manuscripts into finished publishing layouts, managing margins, paragraph styles, headings, footers, and indexes.
• Ensuring consistent font style, spacing, alignment, and overall design quality.
• Accurate typing and formatting in English, Hindi, and Bengali, including converting handwritten or scanned manuscripts into typed documents.
• Proofreading and minimizing text errors during typing.
• Designing covers, title pages, advertisements, posters, and promotional material with CorelDRAW and Photoshop.
• Editing images, creating illustrations, charts, labels, and icons with creativity and visual appeal.
• Providing academic content support by understanding chapter frameworks, exercises, diagrams, and subject presentation.
• Formatting mathematical and technical content including equations, formulas, symbols, diagrams, and charts.
• Preparing high-quality print-ready PDFs adhering to press standards, checking page size, margins, bleeds, image resolution, colors, and fonts.
• Liaising efficiently with editors, proofreaders, authors, designers, and printing teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely corrections.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong expertise with Adobe PageMaker, Adobe InDesign, CorelDRAW, and Adobe Photoshop.
• Fast and precise typing capabilities with accuracy across multiple languages (English, Hindi, Bengali).
• Excellent creative and design sensibility, along with photo editing skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain formatting accuracy.
• Ability to work under deadlines, particularly during peak publishing seasons.
• Basic understanding of academic publishing, especially related to textbooks and educational content.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with equation typing software and Unicode font conversions.
• Experience in Bengali/Hindi publishing and book cover designing.
• Knowledge of printing press workflows and publishing houses, newspapers, magazines, or DTP centers is advantageous.

Additional Information

Salary: INR 15000 to INR 20000 per month.
