Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a high-performance culture via ongoing practical coaching and field assessments.
- Utilize telematics, onboard monitoring tools, and operational reports to identify areas for behavioral correction through coaching.
- Analyze root causes of incidents such as accidents, excessive fuel consumption, speeding, and vehicle misuse.
- Create and oversee improvement strategies for drivers with subpar performance.
- Conduct driver skills evaluations, route monitoring, and competency testing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and safe operating procedures.
- Support accident investigations and convert findings into effective training sessions.
- Advocate for fuel-efficient driving, enhanced vehicle care, and timely defect reporting.
- Implement induction, refresher, and remedial training programs tailored to identified risks.
- Establish measurable benchmarks to continuously improve fleet operations.
Education, Skills, and Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 certificate.
- Diploma in Transport & Logistics or related areas such as Road Transport Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Fleet Management.
- At least five years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles.
- A minimum of two years in driver training, fleet supervision, or managing driver performance.
- Possession of a valid Professional Driver's License and Defensive Driving Certificate.
- Additional certifications such as Training of Trainers (TOT), Dangerous Goods handling, or Incident Investigation are advantageous.
