About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead and advance the HR function within our expanding collision repair division. This full-time position is primarily located in Montreal, with additional postings in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, and Calgary. The role reports to the President of Collision Operations and manages a team divided between Centralized Shared Services and Field Operations across five operational units. The salary range for this role is $140,000 to $155,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HR due diligence and integration during mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions of acquired shops into corporate culture, benefits, and payroll systems.
- Develop and implement a people integration strategy to align various workplace cultures and retain key technical and leadership talent.
- Collaborate with leadership to align human capital strategies with business goals, fostering growth and operational effectiveness.
- Advise regional leaders by translating business objectives into effective talent management, retention, and engagement plans.
- Manage and grow a high-performing multi-functional HR team emphasizing continuous improvement.
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accurate multi-region payrolls including industry-specific pay models.
- Steer talent acquisition efforts to address technical labor shortages through apprenticeship programs and targeted local sourcing.
- Support and supervise Regional HR Business Partners across different operational segments, maintaining strong shop-floor engagement and resolving employee relations issues proactively.
- Provide leadership for Health & Safety initiatives to ensure compliance and promote a proactive safety culture across all collision centers.
- Standardize performance evaluation processes rewarding productivity and facilitating management development.
- Design career progression pathways to enhance retention and internal skill development.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 10 years of HR experience, including 3 to 5 years in a senior leadership role with a proven record in M&A HR management.
- Familiarity with automotive industry pay structures such as flat-rate and flag-hour models.
- Knowledge of labor laws across multiple provinces/states relevant to automotive repair.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business, with professional HR certification preferred (CPHR, SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
- A leadership approach blending strategic vision with hands-on operational involvement.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally to support regional teams.
