About the Role
Crate & Barrel is seeking a Designer who enjoys helping customers imagine and create stylish living spaces informed by current home design trends. This position focuses on building lasting customer relationships while guiding shoppers from single-item updates to full-home furnishing projects.
The role blends creative design support, sales, and customer engagement. Designers use digital and in-store tools during consultations at the store, in customers’ homes, or virtually to turn ideas into practical plans. They also contribute to store performance by generating leads, following up promptly, and maintaining a strong presence on the sales floor.
Success in this role also depends on strong product presentation, operational discipline, and close teamwork with store and design colleagues. It is a great fit for someone who enjoys interiors, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a collaborative, goal-driven setting.
What You'll Do
- Deliver engaging customer experiences that support sales and provide elevated design guidance in-store, in homes, and through virtual channels.
- Build design concepts using approved tools, including mood boards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product selections, and presentation materials.
- Conduct design consultations in person, by email, over the phone, and through virtual meetings.
- Complete projects within the expected timelines and keep work moving efficiently.
- Understand the brand’s look and merchandising direction across store, e-commerce, and catalog channels.
- Stay current on product details, care instructions, competitive offerings, and wider industry trends.
- Meet individual sales, KPI, service, and productivity targets while actively supporting the sales floor.
- Identify customer needs through active listening and recommend suitable products and loyalty services such as designer rewards, the Design Trade Program, and credit card offerings.
- Provide friendly, efficient, and polished service that reflects the brand’s standards.
- Help train store teams on design services and offerings so they better understand the full service model.
- Develop repeat business and referrals through networking and client outreach.
- Apply core design knowledge such as space planning, fabric selection, lighting, and interior styles.
- Communicate clearly and on time while translating both the brand vision and customer needs into practical solutions.
- Use technology confidently, including 2D/3D design tools, Google Workspace, video conferencing, iPad-based tools, and floor-planning software.
- Keep up with changing design trends and adapt quickly as business priorities shift.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in furniture sales, home decor design, retail, or customer service.
- Experience working directly with individual clients and suggesting solutions based on their needs.
- Comfort using Google platforms and virtual communication tools; experience with design software is preferred.
- Strong understanding of basic design principles, including spatial planning, fabrics, lighting, and interior styles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect the brand’s aesthetic to customer preferences.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, lasting customer relationships.

This is a full-time onsite position based in Coral Gables, Florida. The role is designed for someone who can combine creativity, sales ability, and technical fluency in a fast-paced retail environment.
