Position Summary

The Data Steward will be a key member of the agile data and analytics team, tasked with managing data assets to ensure their quality, consistency, and governance. This role involves collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to provide accurate, accessible, and secure data that supports strategic decision-making.

Primary Duties

• Design, execute, and uphold data governance policies, standards, and procedures ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and metadata repositories for data clarity and uniformity.
• Implement and monitor data quality standards, measure and report on data health, and promptly resolve any data quality issues.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand data requirements, supporting data stewardship throughout the organization.
• Lead initiatives that promote data literacy via training sessions and workshops.
• Manage the entire data lifecycle, including proper classification, security measures, and access controls.
• Engage actively in agile team rituals such as daily meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives to improve team delivery and processes.
• Document data governance workflows, lineage, and prepare management reports on governance and quality efforts.

Knowledge and Skills

• Well-versed in data governance frameworks and principles of data quality and compliance.
• Competent with data management technologies including cataloging and quality tools.
• Experience working within agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Certifications such as CDMP or DGSP in data governance or management are advantageous.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 3 years combined experience in data stewardship, governance, or related roles.
• Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree coupled with at least 1 year relevant experience, or a master’s degree with experience is acceptable.
• Familiarity with agile and analytics methodologies is preferred.
