Data Center Facility Manager

Overview

The Data Center Facility Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and safety compliance for critical electrical and HVAC systems within large-scale data centers. Ensuring nearly uninterrupted system availability and strict adherence to service level agreements is key. Leading initiatives in system optimization, risk mitigation, and team management are pivotal to this role.

Primary Duties

• Manage daily operations, inspections, and preventive maintenance for electrical components such as high and low voltage power distribution, UPS, and diesel generators, as well as HVAC systems including chillers and precision air conditioners.
• Guarantee system availability exceeding 99.99%, meeting rigorous SLA standards.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and emergency response protocols.
• Ensure full compliance with safety production regulations, proactively detect risks relating to electrical and HVAC systems, including safety hazards, fire prevention, and energy efficiency, and lead corrective measures.
• Drive enhancements in system control strategies informed by operational data to improve energy efficiency indicators like PUE.
• Participate in cost and manpower efficiency analysis to foster refined and intelligent facility operations.
• Contribute to design reviews, equipment selection, and acceptance testing during new construction or renovation projects, providing expert advice.
• Collaborate productively with interdisciplinary teams to sustain reliable infrastructure support for business functions.
• Guide team development, mentor new personnel, and manage relationships with suppliers, service providers, and regulatory organizations to maintain O&M quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• At least five years of practical experience in operation and maintenance or related fields servicing electrical and HVAC systems within extensive data center or industrial environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power distribution and HVAC operations, including troubleshooting methodologies.
• Experience in equipment lifecycle management and established proficiency in creating and executing O&M processes.
• Exceptional risk assessment and problem-solving capabilities focused on maintaining safety alongside operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with digital operation and maintenance tools like BMS/EMS, CMMS, or DCIM is advantageous.
• Strong accountability and excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively across teams and functions.
• Proven leadership abilities managing combined teams of internal personnel and external vendors to foster a culture of operational excellence.
• Mandates onsite presence during business days for this role.
• Fluent English communication skills required; knowledge of Mandarin Chinese and/or local languages is highly desirable.
