Role overview

U-Haul is hiring a friendly, energetic Customer Service Representative to join its team in Charlottetown. In this hands-on role, you will represent the company’s service standards, support customers throughout their rental experience, and help keep equipment ready through inspection and maintenance work. The position includes practical, on-the-job learning.

Compensation and hiring extras

The company promotes a “Hire Fast, Pay Fast” approach, meaning you may begin work and receive pay the same day. A paid working interview is available. This role also includes a $100 hiring bonus and an additional $300 cash bonus, paid right away after completing U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail locations.

Key responsibilities

• Support customers both inside and outside the U-Haul center with products and services.
• Operate smartphone-based U-Scan tools to handle rentals and track inventory.
• Move U-Haul trucks and trailers and connect them as needed.
• Wash, inspect, and check equipment on the lot, including fluid levels.
• Respond to customer questions and explain available products and services.
• Create rental invoices and process returned equipment.
• Install trailer hitches and wiring.
• Fill propane cylinders, with certification provided after hire.
• Operate a forklift, with certification provided after hire.
• Take on other related tasks as assigned.
• Continue learning through U-Haul University and other company education.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid driver’s licence and keep a good driving record.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.

Work environment

This position involves moderate safety-related risks and discomforts. You may work near moving equipment or machinery, fumes, or irritating chemicals, so protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be needed.

Physical demands

The role can require long periods of standing or remaining in one position, movement both indoors and outdoors, reaching items at different heights, and handling equipment weighing at least 50 lbs, either with or without assistance.

Additional information

The employer provides training for propane certification and forklift operation after employment begins.
