About the Role
The Estates and Facilities Department at the University of Nottingham supports the university's infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings through strategic and operational services. Employing around 1300 personnel, the department offers various services across multiple UK locations including University Park, Jubilee Campus, and the Medical School at Queens Medical Centre.
We seek multiple qualified and experienced Maintenance Craftspeople specializing in plumbing and building services to join our team. The role involves conducting both planned and reactive maintenance on university buildings. You will collaborate with customers and other internal departments to ensure efficient and cost-effective completion of tasks, maintaining accurate pre-task and post-task documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled plumbing and mechanical maintenance across university buildings.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with university staff and departments to facilitate smooth work processes.
- Accurately complete all required documentation before and after maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards while carrying out maintenance work.
- Travel between university sites as necessary, requiring a valid driving licence.
Candidate Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in an appropriate building services engineering discipline such as Heating Engineering or Plumbing.
- Proven experience working within mechanical services or plumbing maintenance environments.
- Thorough understanding of the operation, repair, and maintenance of heating and ventilation systems.
- Full, current driving licence to travel between multiple university campuses.
- Motivation to learn and develop commercial system knowledge within the role.
Terms and Benefits
- Salary ranging from £29,740 to £36,446 per annum pro-rata, dependent on skills and experience.
- Full-time role, 36.25 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday with flexibility required; job share options considered.
