About RP3 Agency and Role Overview
At RP3, exceptional original concepts are regarded as the driving power behind impactful marketing. The Copywriter role focuses on transforming business challenges, audience insights, and current cultural dynamics into clear, original ideas. This is a concept-driven position where the writer helps discover ideas rather than merely enhancing pre-existing text.
The perfect candidate balances strong conceptual thinking with skilled writing, capable of developing campaign frameworks, defining brand voice, telling compelling stories, and simplifying complex topics. This individual blends creativity with strategic perspective, cultural knowledge, and technological innovation to explore ideas deeply, iterate quickly, and elevate final outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate various fresh, innovative, and strategically sound creative concepts regularly.
- Develop campaign platforms and verbal messaging that extend across multiple channels, avoiding one-off slogans or executions.
- Exhibit excellent writing craftsmanship, precision, and the ability to create distinct voices tailored to different brands and target audiences.
- Collaborate with art directors and other team members to integrate ideas into words, visuals, experiences, and behaviors cohesively.
- Transform early creative thoughts into engaging narratives, scripts, presentations, and prototypes to effectively communicate ideas internally and to clients.
- Leverage AI thoughtfully to enhance brainstorming, synthesize information, test language variations, and speed up iteration while maintaining voice originality.
- Produce clear, human-centered, strategically aligned, and accurate content capable of capturing attention and driving measurable results.
- Critically analyze briefs, identify human or cultural insights, and propose multiple campaign directions before settling on the best approach.
- Compose verbal brand systems such as names, taglines, messaging architectures, manifestos, headlines, hooks, and CTAs suitable for diverse media including social, digital, video, broadcast, out-of-home, experiential, CRM, and web platforms.
- Write distinct scripts and copy in both short and long forms; revise meticulously to maintain clarity, intention, and accuracy in every word.
- Employ generative AI and other emerging tech for research support, ideation range, voice prototyping, and rapid copy variant development while validating all final content for accuracy and originality.
- Present creative concepts and written content confidently to both internal teams and clients, linking creative decisions clearly to strategic insights.
- Accept and incorporate constructive feedback while championing strong creative work with humility and clarity.
- Manage multiple projects and brands with ownership and adaptability in a smaller agency environment, staying updated on culture, language, platforms, and AI developments and sharing insights with the team.
Candidate Requirements
- Portfolio illustrating original campaign concepts, a strong personal viewpoint, and proficiency in multi-channel copywriting.
- Three to five years of experience, preferably within an advertising agency or a similarly fast-paced creative setting.
- Ability to progress from strategic insight to a comprehensive idea and articulate this through a unified verbal framework.
- Mastery of language, narrative structure, grammar, editing, and presentation skills for formats ranging from concise headlines to extended narratives and scripts.
- Adaptability across various brand voices and channels, delivering consistent yet non-formulaic messaging.
- Practical experience using generative AI tools for research, conceptualization, copy exploration, drafting, and prototyping, along with the discipline to critically assess and refine AI-generated material.
- A collaborative spirit characterized by low ego, comfort with receiving and applying feedback, and ability to work independently under lean team conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range of $70,000 to $85,000, dependent on experience.
- Company-funded health, life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance.
- Employee-paid dental and vision coverage options.
- 401(k) plan with immediate employer matching.
- Inclusive and comprehensive family leave policy.
- Generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, holidays, personal days, and "Karma Days."
- Summer Fridays feature early 2 PM closures from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
- Additional benefits such as commuter assistance and pet insurance available voluntarily.
- Flexible hybrid work options, favoring residents near RP3 headquarters in Bethesda, MD. Candidates from within commuting distance or accessible by train, plane, or car are encouraged to apply.
