Job description

Overview

Lumwana Mining Company is seeking a dedicated and proactive Contracts Accountant to join their Metals Sales Team. This role emphasizes upholding the company's core values, including transparency, integrity, accountability, zero harm, and partnership cultivation, while contributing to a sustainable legacy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting, invoicing, and settlement processes for metals sales, off-take, and haulage contracts.
  • Reconcile key documents such as invoices, dispatch schedules, weighbridge records, assays, moisture content, quantities, and delivery paperwork.
  • Ensure accuracy in pricing, payable metals, treatment charges/royalties (TC/RCs), penalties, deductions, and other contractual details for billing purposes.
  • Facilitate assay exchanges, umpire procedures, settlement reconciliations, and monitor customer payments including analysis of dispatch-to-cash cycles.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews of active contracts assessing realized pricing, payable metals, penalties, freight, assay adjustments, and identify risks and value improvement possibilities.
  • Develop contract performance models, dashboards, and conduct variance analysis against budget, forecasts, and contract expectations.
  • Analyze and integrate data from various systems to generate actionable commercial insights.
  • Review transporter conduct and manage contractual escalation procedures.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, market analysis and scenario modeling related to pricing, volumes, customer composition, and contract terms.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations for senior leadership outlining performance, risks, and suggested measures.
  • Identify areas to enhance commercial processes, controls, data quality, and maximize value recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant professional qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA.
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of experience managing accounts related to concentrate sales and transport contracts or an equivalent role.
  • Familiarity with local and international bulk transport and shipping documentation is beneficial.
  • Proficient computer skills including integrated management systems with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Holding a valid unrestricted Class B driver's license.
