About the Role
This position is for a Contract Manager based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, engaged on a full-time basis under a one-year renewable contract. The role is within the rail, infrastructure, and project management consultancy (PMC) sector. The incumbent will oversee comprehensive contract management and commercial administration to ensure projects conform to contractual guidelines while safeguarding the organization's commercial interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage contracts aligned with project requirements utilizing frameworks such as FIDIC.
- Direct contract strategy, ensure compliance, and manage risks throughout project stages.
- Manage variations, claims, change control procedures, contractual notifications, and commercial communications.
- Deliver contractual and commercial counsel to the project management team and other stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations involving contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project team members.
- Track contractor adherence to contract terms, deliverables, KPIs, and other obligations.
- Coordinate with legal, planning, cost control, procurement, and project teams for effective dispute and claims management.
- Generate detailed reports concerning contract status, potential risks, claims, variations, and overall commercial exposure.
- Facilitate dispute prevention, resolution of claims, and informed contractual decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Construction Management, or closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 to 15 or more years' experience in contract or commercial management roles.
- Extensive exposure to large-scale infrastructure, rail, construction, or mega projects is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of FIDIC and international contracting standards.
- A demonstrable background in handling contracts, claims, variations, negotiations, and commercial risk mitigation.
- Strong capabilities in commercial and contractual acumen.
- Excellent negotiation skills paired with proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making abilities.
