Role Overview

The EMEA Compliance Testing (ECT) team is a functional entity within Northern Trust’s Global Compliance Assurance Framework. Reporting to the EMEA Compliance Testing Regional Manager, this team conducts risk-driven, point-in-time assessments to verify adherence to regulatory standards. Review scopes vary from targeted compliance checks of business segments to organization-wide examinations. The Consultant will independently plan, execute, and report on assigned compliance audits, analyze findings, identify root causes, propose solutions, and communicate results effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Define appropriate scope and testing procedures for assigned reviews independently.
• Perform and document compliance testing to ensure conformity with regulations and internal policies.
• Collaborate with Compliance Subject Matter Experts to address pertinent concerns.
• Adhere strictly to EMEA and Global guidelines for testing activities.
• Utilize analytical skills to detect possible weaknesses or deviations from established policies.
• Consolidate and communicate testing outcomes clearly and succinctly.
• Alert Compliance and Business Unit managers to potential compliance issues and recommend process enhancements for efficiency.
• Monitor and ensure proper resolution of identified issues through regular follow-ups.
• Conduct validation testing to confirm closure of corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Internal Audit to align testing efforts and share insights.
• Engage with business unit partners and management to present findings and, when necessary, challenge their feedback.
• Support regional leadership with various ad hoc tasks.
• Function effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Build strong partnerships across the first, second, and third lines of defence.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in compliance, compliance testing, monitoring, or audit functions.
• Familiarity with EU regulatory frameworks and key developments is advantageous.
• Proactive and resourceful problem solver.
• Strong analytical capability to identify problems and formulate effective solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Confidence to advise and challenge senior management proficiently.
• Independent decision-making along with team collaboration skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.

Work Authorization
