Job description

Position Overview

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice invites applications for the role of Community Service Administration Assistant, Clerk Grade 3/4, located at Newcastle Community Corrections within the Hunter Region. This is a temporary full-time position available for up to 12 months, with a salary range of $87,199 to $95,482 per annum, including employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading. A talent pool might be established for future permanent or temporary openings over the next 18 months, with priority given to Newcastle-based appointments.

Role Purpose

The primary responsibility is to oversee and administer the Community Service work program, ensuring offenders complete court-ordered community service successfully. This role supports giving back to the community through effective administration within the Newcastle office of Community Corrections.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Applicants are expected to complete community service training and maintain a valid driver's license with readiness to travel within NSW. The position offers extensive training and promotional possibilities. Duties include supporting team members administratively, liaising with multiple stakeholders, and assisting with community service operations.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Candidates should have or be willing to gain understanding of the philosophy and objectives of the Community Service scheme, related legislation, and regulations. Familiarity with Workplace Health and Safety practices is important, including ability to inspect agencies for suitability in community service work. The role demands positive interaction with court-ordered individuals, community agencies, volunteers, internal management, and Community Correction officers.
