Role Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) position is a full-time, remote opportunity responsible for managing Vulcan Capital’s day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient support to investment research and portfolio management functions. The COO will create, deploy, and enhance operational systems relating to business planning, resource distribution, and performance evaluation. This position involves close partnership with senior leadership to align operational efforts with strategic objectives, refine processes, and boost organizational productivity. Additionally, the COO will oversee budgeting, financial governance, vendor management, and adherence to internal policies. Daily tasks include tracking operational key metrics, leading cross-department projects, mentoring personnel, and spearheading ongoing organizational improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Significant expertise in operations management, with a track record of designing and optimizing organizational workflows.
- Proficient business planning skills, including strategic formulation, target setting, and monitoring of outcomes.
- Strong finance and budgeting capability, experienced in managing budgets, financial reporting, and controlling costs.
- Advanced analytical aptitude to interpret data, evaluate risks, and support informed decision-making within investment contexts.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior operational capacity, preferably in financial services or investment management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities suited to remote and distributed team dynamics.
- A history of successfully leading organizational change, implementing new systems and tools, and enhancing operational results.
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related area is required; an advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred.
