CAD Engineer, Energy

Role overview

This position is for a CAD Engineer focused on energy and infrastructure work, including EV charging, battery storage, and solar projects. The role supports assignments from the sales stage through construction and final review, partnering with sales, engineering, project management, and field teams across different markets and phases of delivery. The ideal candidate is flexible, proactive, and comfortable working with modern drafting tools and varied technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Build full drawing packages, site layouts, and construction-ready plans for EV charging deployments, battery energy storage systems, and solar PV projects such as rooftop, ground-mount, and carport installations.
• Translate survey data, sketches, site photographs, and as-built records into accurate CAD drawings and detailed construction documentation.
• Prepare redlined revisions and updated as-built drawings based on field conditions and change requests, while supporting work across sales, design, pre-construction, construction, and post-project review.
• Keep digital drawing records well organized and collaborate with cross-functional teams to verify constructability and code compliance.
• Support development of visual presentation materials and contribute to drafting process improvements, standards, and new specifications.
• Build strong working relationships with sales operations, project managers, site surveyors, and designers, and may guide or mentor junior team members.

Required background and skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or comparable hands-on experience.
• At least 3 years of technical drafting experience or equivalent practical exposure.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 or newer.
• Solid understanding of commercial construction, building structures, land development workflows, and construction documentation, including electrical drawings and details.
• Familiarity with permitting steps and utility interconnection requirements.
• Working knowledge of electrical principles, power distribution, solar design, and energy storage systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation accurately.

Compensation and benefits

The expected annual salary range for this role is USD 108,000 to 180,000, with additional cash and stock awards plus benefits. Final compensation can vary based on location, skills, experience, and other role-specific factors.

Additional information
