Position Overview

As an integral part of Skinnydip Retail's Buying team, the Buyer will be responsible for curating and selecting products in the technology and apparel categories to meet sales targets, profit margins, and customer expectations. This role involves close collaboration with both suppliers and internal departments to oversee product development from initial concept through to market launch, ensuring all deadlines and quality standards are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a commercially driven, customer-centric, and innovative product range that achieves category KPIs across assigned sectors.
  • Monitor weekly sales data and contribute to trade meetings to implement strategies that mitigate risks and optimize opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, lead cost negotiation efforts, and approve products within assigned categories.
  • Manage important accounts by acting as the primary liaison for licensors, demonstrating a firm grasp of licensing portals and approval workflows.
  • Oversee the product development timeline, identifying and resolving any potential issues proactively.

  • Previous experience in a buying role within a head office environment, either as a Buyer or senior Assistant Buyer prepared for advancement.
  • Prior involvement with licensed products is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical capability with acute attention to detail, commercial insight, and confident decision-making regarding products.
  • Competence in managing multiple projects effectively within a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
