Role Summary
This position is for a full-time or part-time Building Inspector located near or within Baldivis, WA. The inspector is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections of residential and commercial properties, examining structural conditions, safety factors, and adherence to relevant codes and Australian Standards. Daily duties include evaluating plumbing and building systems, spotting defects or hazards, and compiling detailed, actionable reports for clients. Interaction with property owners, builders, and other parties to clarify findings and recommend corrective actions is essential. The inspector must keep precise records, comply with legal and company regulations, and contribute to enhancing inspection procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise in building inspections and report preparation aligned with Australian Standards.
- Experience performing site inspections focused on structural soundness, safety, maintenance needs, and overall building condition.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and standards applicable within the last decade.
- Familiarity with roofing, waterproofing, bricklaying, roof carpentry, cladding, and painting standards relevant to building performance and safety; knowledge of tiling, plumbing, electrical systems, cabinetry, concrete, and paving is advantageous.
- Must hold Registered Building Practitioner certification.
- Significant real-world construction or building trade experience preferred.
- Keen observational ability and attention to detail in detecting defects and risk factors.
- Strong communication skills to clearly explain technical issues in everyday language.
- Proficient use of digital tools for report drafting, photography, and documentation.
- Valid driver's license with the flexibility to travel to inspection sites throughout the Perth/Mandurah region south of the river.
