Overview
Nottinghamshire County Council invites applications for the role of Benefits Officer within its Countywide Benefits Team, part of Adult Social Care and Health. The team is dedicated to enhancing residents' financial resilience and independence by helping them access their benefits entitlements.
Role Responsibilities
- Delivering specialist benefits advice primarily via telephone consultations.
- Assisting clients in understanding benefit entitlements and conducting better-off calculations.
- Supporting the appeals process and providing training sessions for staff and partner organizations.
- Collaborating closely with other departments, notably Adult Care Financial Services.
- Participating in community events and building partnerships to improve service quality.
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Demonstrable expertise in offering specialist benefits advice.
- Current, detailed knowledge of the benefits system.
- Familiarity with Adult Social Care, Health services, and financial assessments related to care charges.
- Strong numerical abilities and IT proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of a full driving license and access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

Additional Information
This appointment is offered as a fixed-term contract for 24 months, with a full-time workload of 37 hours weekly. The work location is County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (NG2 7QP). Multiple openings are available. Candidates must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check. This position is also offered as a secondment opportunity to current council employees pending line manager approval.
