Role overview
The Chelsea Radiotherapy department is equipped with four Varian linear accelerators, a Cyberknife unit, a brachytherapy suite, and a Siemens Confidence CT scanner. The team also uses multi-modality imaging for treatment planning.
This is an opportunity for a compassionate, proactive, and committed therapy radiographer to join the service at Band 6 level. The role includes support and training to build confidence in delivering advanced radiotherapy approaches such as SABR, SRS/T, IMRT, VMAT, VIBH, and IGRT. You will work closely with the Band 7 radiographer to help deliver a smooth, efficient, and high-standard patient service, so strong communication skills are important.
The post offers the chance to contribute to a department that is developing radiotherapy practice at a high technical level, with the aim of improving outcomes and patient experience. As many patients with cancer feel anxious about treatment, the reassurance and support provided by radiographers is a key part of this role.
Key duties
You will be responsible for performing radiotherapy procedures accurately and in line with prescribed protocols. You will also support the day-to-day running of a specialist, highly complex radiotherapy area, which may include a treatment unit, brachytherapy unit, CT scanner, VS area, or treatment preparation area. In the absence of a team leader, you may supervise the immediate radiography team.
The post requires regular collaboration with medical, physics, nursing, clerical, and support colleagues across the department and wider organisation. Your main working relationships will be with Senior I radiographers.
