Role Overview

The Autocad Drafter is responsible for generating detailed and accurate technical drawings pertinent to structural steel fabrication and allied metalwork. This involves interpreting engineering and architectural plans, drafting precise shop drawings for fabrication, and updating these based on collaborative feedback. The drafter works closely with workshop and site teams to ensure drawings are manufacturable and installable, verifies critical details such as dimensions and materials, maintains organized drawing documentation, and aligns with company safety and quality standards. This role is based full-time at the Cowdenbeath site.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient in technical and general drawing for steel fabrication and metalwork.
• Experienced in producing and reading shop drawings for both workshop fabrication and site installation.
• Capable of understanding architectural drawings and design expectations related to architecture.
• Skilled in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software to produce exact 2D technical drawings.
• Holds a relevant technical certification or apprenticeship in drafting, engineering, or a construction-related field.
• Good understanding of structural steel components, fabrication methods, and engineering fundamentals.
• Strong detail orientation with the ability to accurately interpret technical specifications.
• Effective communicator able to work collaboratively with fabricators, welders, engineers, and management on-site.
• Previous experience in structural steel, metal fabrication, or construction settings is advantageous.
