Role Overview

As an Associate within the Direct Private Equity team based in Mumbai, you will focus on investment activities across Pan Asia, with particular emphasis on India. Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed investment research and diligence, assisting in developing and delivering investment recommendations, and overseeing portfolio investments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain comprehensive financial models including discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, precedent transaction, and comparable company analyses.
• Assist in performing in-depth due diligence covering financial, commercial, sector, and company-specific factors.
• Create detailed investment documentation such as industry analyses, investment rationales, due diligence reports, valuation summaries, and formal recommendations.
• Participate in evaluating investment opportunities by analyzing attractiveness, risk factors, value creation possibilities, and exit strategies.
• Prepare materials required for Investment Committee and Board discussions as necessary.
• Monitor portfolio companies through performance measurement, benchmarking, financial review, and support of strategic initiatives.
• Facilitate the onboarding and integration of new investments into CPP Investments' portfolio.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with advisors, bankers, general partners, management teams, and other market stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• A strong academic background with an undergraduate degree from a reputable institution, preferably in commerce, finance, economics, engineering, business, or related analytical fields.
• An MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree from a leading business school is preferred but not mandatory.
• Between 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting.
• Proficient research capabilities combined with strong analytical, financial modeling, valuation, and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to challenges.
• Experience within deal environments, including support for acquisitions, due diligence, and asset management duties.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
