Job Overview

This role involves the planning, administration, and management of comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for varsity intercollegiate teams at the university. Working closely with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the Assistant Coach will design tailored training programs aimed at improving athletic performance, address the specific needs of assigned teams, and ensure that workout sessions are conducted safely and effectively. Collaboration with the Director of Sports Performance and coaching staff is integral to align conditioning efforts with team strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop annual strength and conditioning plans encompassing pre-season, in-season, post-season, and off-season phases for assigned teams.
  • Assist with scheduling, management, and upkeep of three varsity weight training facilities.
  • Conduct tests and evaluations to monitor athlete progress and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain regular communication with coaches and athletic trainers regarding athlete status and needs.
  • Oversee and mentor student employees supporting strength and conditioning operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years experience in collegiate strength and conditioning within a multi-sport context or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and First Aid/CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Strong organizational skills paired with a keen attention to detail.
