Position Overview
The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a dedicated Assistant Scientist specializing in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. CNM is a Department of Energy Office of Science user facility offering global researchers access to state-of-the-art tools and expertise for multidisciplinary nanoscience research. The center supports innovative science endeavors by both staff and an international user community.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct foundational research and development aimed at progressing nanoscience and nanotechnology. A significant responsibility includes actively engaging with and expanding the CNM's scientific user community.
Research Focus Areas
Applicants from diverse scientific disciplines and research interests aligning with CNM's strategic priorities are encouraged. Areas of potential research include but are not limited to:
- Nanoscience impacts on renewable energy and sustainability
- Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in nanomaterials synthesis and data analysis
- Study of nanoscale material dynamics
- Quantum information science
- Advanced imaging techniques
- Microelectronics
Candidate Requirements
- Ph.D. in Physical Sciences is the minimum qualification
- Robust background in nanoscience and nanotechnology research
- Utilize and build upon existing advanced capabilities and scientific knowledge at CNM
