Topshop and Topman are renowned British fashion labels with a legacy spanning six decades. Based in London, these brands connect with over two million customers worldwide via the ASOS platform, generating brand revenues of approximately £200 million. Following a joint venture formed between ASOS and HEARTLAND in October 2024, a dedicated cross-functional team within ASOS has been established to unlock significant growth opportunities for these brands by leveraging ASOS's infrastructure without compromising their creative independence.

In the upcoming year, Topshop and Topman aim to broaden both their physical and digital retail footprint, including launching Topshop.com and forming new wholesale business relationships.

Role Overview

ASOS stands as one of the UK’s leading fashion and beauty marketplaces, rapidly expanding internationally. The merchandising team plays a pivotal role in ensuring product availability aligns with customer demand—offering the right products, at the right times, in appropriate quantities, and locations. Collaborating closely with buying teams, merchandisers strategically plan collections and inventory levels to optimize profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations within the merchandising department, ensuring seamless workflow.
• Project sales and maintain adequate stock levels to meet sales objectives and profitability targets.
• Track departmental performance to pinpoint opportunities for growth and risks including potential losses.
• Work in close partnership with buying teams on range planning and product assortment decisions.
• Participate actively in trade meetings involving senior leadership such as Heads and Directors.
• Continuously evaluate departmental processes, emphasizing lead time management and operational efficiency.
• Mentor and guide a Merchandise Assistant toward professional development.
• Administer the Weekly Sales, Stock, and Intake (WSSI) tool and support trade planning activities.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have a passion for fashion, especially the preferences of the 20-something Topshop and Topman demographic, and be comfortable navigating fast-paced retail environments. Ideal candidates bring proven merchandising experience, excellent commercial insight, and strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with colleagues and suppliers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience as an Assistant Merchandiser or within a merchandising function in fashion retail.
• Deep understanding of youth culture relevant to Topshop/Topman customers along with trend awareness.
• Superior organizational skills and clear communication abilities across various hierarchy levels.
• Proficiency in managing weekly sales data, inventory, and product intake, coupled with confidence to engage in trade meetings.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills; familiarity with reporting tools is advantageous.
