Position Overview
Gonzaga University's Center for Lifelong Learning is looking to hire an adjunct faculty member to instruct in its Certificate in Foundational Leadership program. This role involves delivering engaging synchronous online courses centered on leadership, targeting adult learners. The instructor will possess hands-on leadership experience and be skilled in inspiring and facilitating a collaborative and inclusive virtual classroom.
Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and conduct live online classes within course schedule
- Lead interactive sessions promoting discussion and application of leadership concepts
- Provide one hour weekly virtual office hours for student support per course, as needed
- Develop, assign, and evaluate coursework; ensure timely submission of grades
- Manage and oversee a designated teaching assistant for instructional support
- Utilize Gonzaga's Canvas LMS to distribute content, communicate with students, and track assignments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Education, or a closely related discipline is mandatory
- Proven practical experience in applying leadership skills in organizational or professional contexts
- Background in teaching, training, or facilitating workshops for adult audiences
- Preferred: Master's degree or higher, or equivalent professional expertise
- Experience demonstrating effective teaching methods to engage diverse learners
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms and LMS systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle
- Dedication to inclusive teaching practices and fostering collaborative learning environments
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Fully remote position with no on-campus attendance needed
- Majority of work involves prolonged sitting or stationary activity (>75% daily)
- Limited walking and occasional lifting/carrying (1%-49% daily)
- Consistent attention to details and problem-solving expected daily
Additional Information
- This role is classified as adjunct with a 50% appointment; teaching up to 6 credits per term
- The engagement lasts approximately 4.5 months annually
- Salary compensation is $1,445 per credit, increasing to $1,641 per credit for candidates holding a terminal degree
- No relocation or signing bonuses are provided
- Currently, no new H1B visa sponsorships are being offered
