About the business

Role overview
Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, the Accountant will support commercial and financial activities across the site, with responsibility for reporting, asset control, cost analysis, and financial administration.
Key responsibilities
- Support monthly management reporting and help users understand how the accounting system and its modules should be used in practice.
- Maintain the asset register so that all assets are properly recorded and accounted for.
- Complete quarterly reconciliations of the asset register.
- Prepare cost analysis for managers and supervisors so they have clear visibility of expenditure.
- Run cost review meetings with department managers and supervisors.
- Manage project and CAPEX applications in line with internal policy and accounting system requirements.
- Assist with financial statement preparation, including notes for joint venture reporting where relevant.
- Ensure trial balance reconciliations are completed accurately.
- Use data science methods to forecast production costs and help identify operational risks.
Skills and experience
The role calls for an accounting background, strong systems knowledge, and the ability to communicate clearly across multiple stakeholders. Experience in commercial or management accounting is important, and exposure to the resources sector, SAP, machine learning, or advanced analytics will be an advantage.
