Their mission is to develop the world's first swarm-based airborne counter-drone system, addressing the rapid evolution of drone threats in modern conflict zones with cutting-edge solutions.
Role Overview
This part-time, onsite position based in Karlsruhe, Germany, invites mechanical engineering students to actively contribute to experimental and prototyping efforts supporting Alpine Eagle's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup and support laboratory and in-field test measurements involving vibration, temperature, motors, and structural analysis
- Conduct research and prepare data acquisition systems, sensors, and other test instrumentation
- Enhance prototyping laboratory tools, optimize layouts, and streamline workflows for efficiency
- Refine 3D printing techniques to improve part quality and printing processes
- Assist with prototyping, assembly, and testing efforts on various projects
- Oversee 3D printing operations, including part post-processing
- Contribute to component selection and maintain engineering documentation compliant with ISO 9001/9100 standards
- Provide hands-on assistance during periods of high workload
Candidate Requirements
- Valid work authorization to work in Germany (citizenship or visa)
- Enrollment as a university student in Germany, preferably in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field
- Experience with CAD software and familiarity with 3D printing technologies
- Basic knowledge of electronics and embedded systems, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, and data acquisition systems
- Understanding of drone or aircraft design principles and development processes
- Proactive, organized, hands-on, and team-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently in laboratory and workshop settings
- A driving license is advantageous but not required
