Role Summary

This role is vital for ensuring the safe, efficient setup and operation of packaging production lines, following all plant standards and procedures. The WCO/TPL Backup leads daily activities in the absence of the Team Production Leader (TPL), balancing leadership duties with hands-on work to maintain productivity, safety, quality, and cost efficiency. The position requires independent work capability during absences and collaboration as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full charge of the crew’s daily work activities when the TPL is unavailable.
  • Assign tasks and delegate duties to Warehouse and Control Operators (WCOs).
  • Lead by example by performing operational tasks alongside team members to maintain productivity.
  • Support the TPL in managing minor employee performance issues, ensuring fair application of company policies.
  • Operate packaging production lines including filling, capping, labeling, coding, and packaging machinery per standard operating procedures and production schedules.
  • Maintain equipment efficiency by replenishing supplies and cleaning parts as required.
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor equipment malfunctions; inform supervisors or maintenance for major repairs.
  • Conduct routine quality checks on the production line and accurately document results in accordance with company standards.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment following GMP and operating procedures to prevent contamination.
  • Provide training to other employees as needed.
  • Perform audits including Behavior Based Safety, Gemba, ISO, and Line Audits, and report findings to supervisors.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies such as root cause analysis, kaizen events, and poka-yokes.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety policies including Lock-out-Tag-out procedures and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Keep work areas organized and clean by performing general housekeeping duties.
  • Adhere to all ISO9001, GMP, and Environmental, Health & Safety procedures.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Between 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably within the chemical industry.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including email, SAP, and Google Docs.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is between $54,080 and $72,110 annually, plus discretionary bonuses. Compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications.
