Utility Locator

Position Overview

USIC, a leading company in underground utility damage prevention, is seeking dedicated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Utility Locators. This full-time, onsite role involves fieldwork locating and marking underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. No prior experience is necessary, as comprehensive paid training is provided, but experienced locators are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately and safely identify and mark underground utilities across various infrastructure types.
• Perform thorough searches within assigned areas, document and photograph each locate, and complete necessary paperwork.
• Work independently in the field using company-provided vehicles and equipment.
• Operate with a fast turnaround time, generally within 48 hours, including occasional work on holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and capable of walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to differentiate colors used for utility marking and interpret locate tickets, maps, and blueprints.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass mandatory drug screening.
• Technological proficiency to utilize company systems and equipment effectively.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as business needs dictate.
