Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate Band 3 Therapy Assistant to become a valuable member of our supportive Inpatient Therapy Team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This position allows you to make meaningful contributions to patients’ recovery journeys by assisting with rehabilitation and supporting their independence and daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Occupational and Physiotherapists to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Deliver clinical assistance such as administering exercise programs and rehabilitation interventions under supervision.
  • Handle administrative duties including documentation, managing equipment, data collection, and other clerical tasks.
  • Employ verbal and non-verbal communication methods to effectively engage with patients and their carers.
  • Perform manual handling tasks after receiving appropriate training.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills by developing administrative support systems and managing your time efficiently.
  • Communicate patient progress, condition changes, and discharge planning to therapeutic and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide coverage for other therapy support staff during absences and contribute to service development and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in a 7-day service rota when required.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Strong communication and organisational capabilities essential for interacting within a busy inpatient setting.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in IT and written communication skills due to electronic patient record keeping.
  • Previous healthcare experience is advantageous but not mandatory; we welcome those eager to learn and with the right mindset.
  • Willingness to undergo training and supervision, including Therapy Assistant Competencies completion.
