About Bechtel and the Project
With a global legacy spanning over 120 years and more than 25,000 projects worldwide, Bechtel Corporation has been a leader in infrastructure development, including significant airport projects in the GCC region. Currently, Bechtel is engaged as project management consultant for the cutting-edge King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, designed to serve up to 120 million passengers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050. The project features multiple new terminals, including specialized terminals for low-cost carriers, new concepts, and VIP services.
Role Summary
This position involves active participation and support in ensuring sustainability standards are integrated across all stages of the airport project, from design through construction and commissioning. The coordinator will liaise with multiple teams to track sustainability compliance, certification progress, and KPI achievement, fostering continuous improvement and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and communicate updates on sustainability obligations into project workflows.
- Track sustainability deliverables through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants for timely sustainability data, progress, and evidence.
- Validate sustainability performance metrics against contract KPIs and certification requirements.
- Identify gaps, non-compliance, risks, and areas needing corrective action via analysis.
- Aggregate performance metrics from varied stakeholders into comprehensive reports.
- Maintain dashboards, databases, and trackers to monitor sustainability progress.
- Support preparation of routine and executive sustainability performance reports.
- Review sustainability rating system submissions including LEED, Mostadam, and WELL.
- Keep sustainability records such as training, RFIs, action logs, initiatives, and certifications accurate and updated.
- Assist creation of guidance, procedural documents, templates, and training content.
- Promote sustainability awareness and training among project teams and contractors.
- Provide enterprise and supervisory sustainability training and maintain related processes and procedures.
- Encourage enterprise application development relevant to sustainability practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2-5 years of relevant experience, or 6-9 years of relevant work history.
- Strong commitment to safety and Bechtel’s core values and culture.
- Advanced English communication skills including report writing; additional languages advantageous.
- High organizational capabilities, teamwork orientation, and problem-solving skills with a drive to innovate processes.
- Understanding of design, construction phases, and economic elements related to infrastructure projects.
- Experience across engineering, construction, and fieldwork phases, especially in infrastructure contexts.
- Familiarity with the cultural norms and expectations of the MENA region.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, knowledge-sharing approach.
- Self-motivated, supportive, inquisitive, ambitious, and results-focused personality preferred.
- Ability to work effectively within diverse, multidisciplinary teams managing complex relationships.
- Hands-on experience coordinating construction phase activities, stakeholder engagement, and generating reports, including PowerBI usage.
