Job description

Position Overview

This role involves performing welding inspections along with various non-destructive tests such as Joint Fit Up, Root Run, Dye Penetrant Test, Magnetic Particle Test, Hardness Testing, and Radiography interpretation to assure the integrity of stationary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical integrity inspections on stationary equipment, including pressure vessels, columns, piping, exchangers, and valves.
  • Perform repair inspections including joint fit-up, root run, and non-destructive testing techniques.
  • Manage welder performance qualifications and oversee repair alteration documentation and change management processes.
  • Inspect coatings, painting, refractory, and surfaces as well as assess corrosion under insulation conditions.
  • Carry out dye penetrant tests, magnetic particle tests, radiography analysis, positive metal identification, hardness testing, video probe inspections, and boroscopy.
  • Develop corrosion circuits and conduct ultrasonic thickness monitoring on pipes and vessels, maintaining baseline and scheduled inspection data within software systems.
  • Support static equipment engineers in preparing and managing risk-based inspections.
  • Maintain calibration schedules and inventories for inspection tools and consumables.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports using Meridium software covering thickness surveys, welding inspections, and internal/external evaluations.
  • Serve as site representative for ERG-related contracts, ensuring contractor safety and compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in processes and systems to enhance productivity and operational efficiencies.
  • Implement all relevant policies, procedures, and instructions to maintain controlled workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, security, environmental, and quality standards to promote workplace safety and high-quality output.
  • Prepare timely, accurate departmental reports as per policy requirements.
  • Assist in the development of Qatari employees, applicable for expatriates.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary education (High School/12th Grade) with 5+ years in chemical, power, or oil & gas industries; OR
  • Two-year engineering diploma with 4+ years relevant industry experience; OR
  • Three-year engineering diploma with 3+ years relevant industry experience.

Certifications and Skills

  • Must hold ASNT Level II certifications in UT, PT, and MT.
  • Knowledge of corrosion control and cathodic protection systems, competent in generating inspection reports.
  • Practical experience with thickness monitoring, welding inspection, non-destructive testing techniques, painting and coating inspections, insulation and refractory inspections, and calibrating inspection tools.
