Role Overview
The Staff Cafeteria Supervisor manages the daily functions of the employee dining area to ensure a clean, inviting, well-organized, and efficient meal service for all staff members.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily cafeteria operations during all meal times, guaranteeing timely service of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other meals.
- Prepare buffet stations, dining spaces, beverage counters, and service tools ahead of meal periods.
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to track food supply continuously and arrange restocking as needed.
- Maintain standards of food presentation, portioning, and service quality.
- Manage colleague flow, especially during busy periods, to ensure orderly service.
- Ensure proper closure, cleanliness, and readiness of the cafeteria after each meal session.
- Organize special meal provisions for operational demands, events, or night shifts as necessary.
- Foster a positive and friendly dining atmosphere, actively engaging with employees to gather feedback on food and service quality.
- Respond professionally to concerns, escalating repeated issues to relevant departments.
- Collaborate with kitchen and human resources teams to enhance the employee dining experience and encourage respectful use of facilities.
- Guarantee compliance with food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and health and safety regulations through regular inspection of food quality, storage, and equipment maintenance.
- Implement proper labeling and handling procedures for all food items.
- Oversee team members including cafeteria attendants, conducting daily briefings, task distribution, attendance and performance monitoring, and on-the-job training.
- Coordinate with stewarding, engineering, and housekeeping to ensure adequate supplies, cleanliness, and maintenance of cafeteria operations.
- Maintain accurate records of meal counts, checklists, attendance, and inventory, and support waste minimization efforts.
- Report operational challenges and suggest feasible improvements to management.
Qualifications & Experience
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food & Beverage Management, or a related discipline is required.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience in food and beverage or staff cafeteria roles within hotels or hospitality sectors.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in upscale hospitality settings and participation in property pre-opening are preferred assets.
