Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Nova Scotia is responsible for leading day-to-day site operations on assigned construction projects. The Site Superintendent ensures work proceeds safely, meets schedule targets, aligns with design intent, and satisfies quality expectations. The role requires close coordination with crews, subcontractors, project managers, clients, and consultants to keep projects moving smoothly.
Key Duties
- Direct and supervise daily construction activity on site.
- Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and site logistics to maintain efficient workflow.
- Track progress against project schedules, budgets, and plans.
- Enforce health and safety requirements and promote safe job site practices.
- Carry out site inspections and address issues that arise during construction.
- Communicate project updates and concerns with managers, clients, and consultants.
- Review drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
- Arrange deliveries of materials and equipment as needed.
- Keep site records and documentation organized and up to date.
- Support a professional, cooperative working environment on the project site.
Qualifications
- Proven ability in construction site leadership, including managing trades and subcontractor coordination.
- Comfort with reading construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents accurately.
- Working knowledge of building codes, safety rules, and commercial or institutional construction practices.
- Strong communication and people skills for working with teams, clients, suppliers, and consultants.
- Good judgment and troubleshooting ability for site issues, including handling change orders.
- Experience with construction management systems, digital records, and standard office software.
- Several years of advancing experience in construction supervision or site management, ideally with a general contractor.
- Post-secondary training in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of experience.
- A consistent focus on safety, quality, and professional behavior on active job sites.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations across Nova Scotia as required.
