Job Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee and implement advanced quantity surveying activities across significant construction and infrastructure developments. This role involves comprehensive management of cost planning, estimation, procurement support, contract oversight, and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process of cost planning, estimation, and budget control from project start to finish
- Draft tender documentation, bills of quantities, cost approximations, and various commercial documents
- Assist procurement through subcontractor evaluation, cost analysis, and contract negotiations
- Supervise and regulate project costs, track changes, and apply strategies to optimize value
- Manage contracts following applicable standards such as FIDIC, NEC, or customized agreements, including claim and variation handling
- Evaluate and approve interim and final payments for contractors and suppliers
- Perform cost analyses, forecasting, and generate financial reports for internal and client use
- Ensure prompt and accurate delivery of commercial, financial, and progress documentation
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to uphold commercial governance standards
- Maintain meticulous records of costs and documentation throughout all project stages
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline with a minimum of seven years relevant experience
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or related field with at least five years of experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost management, and contract administration
- Familiarity with international contract forms such as FIDIC and NEC
- Strong analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and cost control expertise
- Experience in preparing and managing claims, variations, and commercial paperwork
- Competency in quantity surveying software including MS Excel, CostX, CATO, or equivalents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with stakeholders
- Proven capability to handle multiple responsibilities, perform under pressure, and adhere to deadlines
- Chartered status like MRICS is preferred but not mandatory
