Role Overview

The Senior Financial Controller position based in Munich entails a vital role in maintaining the company's financial integrity and adherence to accounting standards. This position is responsible for managing key financial functions, producing accurate and timely reports, and facilitating strategic decision-making processes. The role impacts financial clarity, efficiency of operations, and overall business profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements conforming to HGB and IFRS standards.
• Create both short- and long-term financial forecasts along with liquidity plans that enhance business performance and cash management.
• Refine methodologies for calculating product contribution margins and profitability to deepen business insights.
• Work cooperatively with accounting, operations, and interdisciplinary teams to guarantee data precision and sound financial planning.
• Contribute to the formation, oversight, and evaluation of annual budgets, using past data and market trends.
• Analyze customer, product, sales channel, and operational performance to identify risks and opportunities for growth.
• Provide actionable financial reports and insights aimed at improving profitability and aiding strategic choices.
• Support initiatives to enhance processes by highlighting inefficiencies and implementing cost reduction measures.
• Develop and oversee frameworks related to import evaluations and inventory analysis, including cost, compliance, and stock optimization assessments.
• Participate in special finance projects, strategic planning endeavors, and continuous enhancements of financial systems and methods.

Qualifications and Experience

• Comprehensive knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS with practical experience in financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
• Detail-focused and hands-on in analyzing complex datasets.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, preferably with a focus on controlling.
• Extensive experience in financial planning, forecasting, KPI assessment, and financial performance management.
• Proficiency in product costing and implementing cost control initiatives.
• Understanding of cash flow management and fundamental financial workflows.
• Fluency in German and English at C1/C2 levels, coupled with strong communication skills.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of procurement processes in the fresh produce or food sector.
• Experience liaising with transport providers and managing quality claim procedures.
• Basic familiarity with import/export operations and taxation documentation.
