Senior Applied Scientist, International Machine Learning

Primary Responsibilities

• Apply machine learning and analytical methods to develop scalable solutions addressing business challenges.
• Extract and analyze relevant information from extensive historical Amazon business data to automate and improve key processes.
• Design, build, assess, and deploy innovative, highly scalable predictive models.
• Research and incorporate novel machine learning and statistical techniques.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to implement real-time models and develop new features.
• Partner with business stakeholders and operations teams to optimize business operations.
• Create scalable, efficient automated procedures for large-scale data analysis, model development, validation, and deployment.
• Mentor scientists and engineers on machine learning methodologies.

Team Overview

The International Machine Learning team focuses on crafting innovative machine learning solutions tailored for India and other emerging markets such as MENA and LatAm. Their work has significant impact on the business’s top and bottom lines.

Qualifications

• 7 or more years of experience developing machine learning models for business applications.
• PhD or Master’s degree.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Java, C++, Python, or equivalent.
• Experience with neural deep learning techniques and traditional machine learning algorithms.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, numpy, and scipy.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems including Hadoop and Spark.
