About the Role
This Senior Analyst position demands advanced leadership in conducting complex theoretical and empirical research, analyzing detailed data, and delivering evidence-based policy advice. It encompasses managing critical projects, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, and producing influential policy briefs and reports to guide strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive primary and secondary macroeconomic research, including economic and financial modeling, forecasting, and sector-specific policy analysis using both qualitative and quantitative methods to support informed policy development.
- Develop and prepare detailed technical policy notes, working papers, and discussion documents to support policy reforms and advisory roles.
- Assess current policies and regulations, identify gaps, draft new policy proposals, and track legislative progress to improve the policy framework.
- Create and maintain a sophisticated database of national and global macroeconomic indicators for diverse policy analyses.
- Scout emerging technologies and conduct technical due diligence to evaluate their suitability for adoption by client organizations.
- Compose technical presentations and speeches on behalf of, or for, the Managing Director/CEO.
- Produce regular macroeconomic updates on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual bases to support new policy initiatives, reforms, and advocacy efforts.
- Deliver high-quality reports, briefings, and articles tailored for various stakeholders.
- Lead projects by managing timelines effectively, guiding working groups, and mentoring junior researchers to foster their professional and technical development.
- Engage with government representatives, private sector leaders, and development partners, both local and international, to collect insights essential for reporting and project execution.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, or a related Social Sciences discipline; a PhD is preferred and considered advantageous.
- Between two and five or more years of experience in policy analysis and research within a private sector, government think tank, NGO, or academic setting.
Skills
- Expertise in research and analytical software tools including R, EViews, SPSS, Stata, Dynare, and survey tools like CTO or Kobotoolbox for handling and visualizing large datasets.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and produce insightful visualizations using statistical software.
- Strong networking skills enabling effective collaboration with leadership across ministries, development partners, and professionals.
- Highly disciplined, dependable, and capable of managing responsibilities independently without frequent oversight.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and a strong team orientation.
- Superior written and verbal communication proficiency.
- Ability to work autonomously under pressing deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude.
