Self Checkout Attendant

Position Summary

Working as a Self-Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers valuable experience in the retail sector. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service to enhance the shopping experience and assisting customers with self-service checkout transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized checkout area free from debris, obstacles, or spills.
• Assist and educate customers on the proper and efficient use of self-checkout systems when necessary.
• Promote company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives as applicable.
• Monitor customer activity to identify when assistance is required.
• Explain the reasons for any self-service interventions or quality checks in a polite manner to reassure customers that these are standard procedures.
• Handle Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms knowledgeably and complete the "Failure to Deactivate" log as needed.
• Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-service checkout area experiences cash shortages or technical difficulties.
• Ensure that Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated charging stations after use.

Minimum Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
