Experienced mentors lead engaging, structured lessons, offering personalized support and fostering measurable academic progress to nurture each learner's potential.
Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time remote Scratch Mentor to teach children and teens block-based programming using the Scratch platform. Responsibilities include planning and delivering live interactive online lessons, guiding students through coding projects, and explaining key programming concepts such as loops, events, and variables. The mentor will promote creativity and problem-solving, track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and customize instruction to accommodate varying ages and abilities.
Additional duties include preparing educational materials, collaborating with fellow educators to enhance lesson plans, maintaining communication with parents or guardians when necessary, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Expertise with Scratch or equivalent block-based coding tools and ability to create suitable projects for youth.
- Experience teaching or mentoring children or teenagers in online or in-person settings, with effective classroom management skills.
- Strong communication skills characterized by clarity, patience, and encouragement, able to simplify technical topics.
- Familiarity with digital teaching tools including video conferencing and collaboration platforms.
- A passionate interest in education, child development, and fostering logical reasoning and computational thinking.
- Commitment to a full-time schedule, dependability, and teamwork in a diverse environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, or related fields, or equivalent teaching experience with youth coding.
- Additional experience in curriculum creation, STEM program facilitation, or coding clubs is advantageous.
