Role Overview

The Reach Truck Driver / General Operative role involves safely and efficiently managing the movement, storage, and retrieval of stock within the warehouse environment utilizing a reach truck. The position also includes assisting with general warehouse tasks such as picking, packing, loading, and stock management through a Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Key Duties

• Operate reach trucks in a safe manner to load, unload, and transport pallets within racking systems.
• Accurately pick and pack customer orders following instructions from the warehouse management system.
• Load and unload merchandise from delivery vehicles, ensuring all items are secured properly for transportation.
• Perform general warehouse responsibilities like sorting, labeling, stock rotation, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness.
• Complete loading manifests and keep stock documentation precise and up-to-date.
• Carry out daily pre-operation inspections of reach trucks and promptly report any issues or faults.
• Maintain a tidy, safe, and organized working space adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Support stocktaking activities and cycle counts when required.
• Collaborate effectively with the warehouse team to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
• Adhere strictly to all company health and safety guidelines and policies.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a valid and current reach truck operator license is mandatory.
• Experience operating reach trucks in a warehouse setting is required.
• Strong knowledge of manual handling and warehouse health and safety procedures.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills necessary to complete paperwork and maintain stock records.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to cooperate within a team environment.
• Availability to work varied shifts including weekends as needed.

Physical Demands

• Capability to safely lift and transport stock following manual handling best practices.
• Comfortable operating within a warehouse setting for extended periods.
• Ability to stand for prolonged durations and operate machinery safely.
