About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer specializing in mechanical engineering with a strong background in field quality control within sectors such as water infrastructure, EPC, construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, and refinery. Candidates should have 5 to 10 years of experience with a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or 10 to 12 years with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Holding an internal auditor certification for ISO 9001 Quality Management is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Primarily working on water, wastewater, storm water network, and drainage design projects, ensuring strict adherence to client specifications and performing comprehensive quality checks and reviews.
- Preparing and managing project quality system documentation before project initiation.
- Overseeing the overall quality of products and services delivered to customers.
- Applying in-depth knowledge of construction methods, practices, and procedures; creating SOPs and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for both site and laboratory tasks.
- Working with international codes and standards including ASME, IS standards, and relevant construction and water industry regulations.
- Handling piping systems including HDPE, DI, and MS pipes covering manufacturing, installation, testing, and welding procedure qualifications.
- Experience related to welding automation and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT).
- Holding certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector and NDT Level II in Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT) is preferred.
- Ensuring inspections at various stages—raw material, in-process, and final—are conducted per Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), ITPs, process charts, work instructions, and customer requirements.
- Participating in client quality management meetings and coordinating project quality requirements with stakeholders, including resolving customer complaints related to quality.
- Monitoring and managing quality metrics and supporting the implementation of digital quality solutions.
- Carrying out onsite inspections of installed components such as concrete, structural steel, process and mechanical piping, electrical installations, etc.
- Developing vendor quality awareness and ensuring compliance with quality controls during vendor manufacturing in line with QAP.
- Monitoring the status and resolution of all nonconformance reports.
- Providing training and support to the QA team.
- Preparing and supervising updates to quality assurance manuals.
- Coordinating with external laboratories for specialized testing, certification bodies, and ensuring timely issue resolution.
