About the Role
J&M Group is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join their team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a contract position lasting between 6 to 12 months, requiring onsite presence. The ideal candidate will have robust expertise in automated testing frameworks, particularly for mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform manual test procedures into comprehensive automated test suites emphasizing coverage, reproducibility, and efficiency.
- Review and evaluate existing manual test scenarios, prioritizing critical areas prone to regression for automation.
- Develop and maintain reliable test scripts leveraging frameworks such as XCUITest, Detox, Appium, or Playwright using C#.
- Produce detailed test outcome reports, including pass/fail status, screenshots, and logs, on a regular daily or weekly schedule.
- Embed automated testing processes within CI/CD workflows to ensure reporting is generated for every build or pull request.
- Monitor and communicate progress regarding automation coverage and effectiveness over time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in QA automation with significant emphasis on mobile testing.
- Practical knowledge of at least one of the following: Selenium for browser automation, Appium for cross-platform mobile automation, or Playwright (C#) for web and cross-browser testing.
- Comprehensive understanding of various testing approaches including unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and regression testing.
- Experience with integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Smart UI and visual regression tools like Percy or equivalents.
- Exposure to AI-driven testing techniques, including test generation, self-healing tests, or large language model-based triage methods.
- Knowledge or experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or agentic tooling within QA environments considered a strong advantage.
- Excellent analytical abilities and proven capability to operate independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
