About the Role
The workplace planning team at Tesla is dedicated to designing environments that enable high-performing teams to excel. Their approach is founded on three key elements—Design, Build, and Operate—aimed at optimizing space, implementing innovative solutions for rapid expansion, and driving long-term strategies, all while prioritizing sustainability.
Tesla is looking for a Project Manager to guide the planning, scoping, and design of impactful workplace amenities such as cafeterias, break areas, fitness centers, and restrooms at the Fremont Factory and other manufacturing locations. This role involves crafting environments that reflect Tesla’s dynamic, mission-focused culture into practical and inspiring spaces. You will be responsible for projects from initial concept to final execution, collaborating closely with various teams to deliver sustainable, creative solutions that enhance the employee experience and scale with organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end workplace project planning including defining scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resources in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Create detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets and actively track progress, identifying areas for improvement to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, fostering cooperation, resolving obstacles, and maintaining alignment from design through construction phases.
- Identify and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycle to safeguard outcomes and project momentum.
- Manage coordination between internal teams and external vendors or contractors, including bidding and negotiation processes, to guarantee superior project execution.
- Utilize project management tools such as Jira for performance tracking and maintain transparent, proactive communication via status updates, meetings, and stakeholder reporting.
- Ensure high quality standards by conducting post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and facilitating smooth transition to operations and maintenance teams.
- Source and evaluate vendors through competitive bidding, balancing cost, quality, and risks to select optimal suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with corporate or industrial clients.
- Proficient in project financial management, contract administration, budgeting, scheduling, and negotiation.
- Hands-on experience in construction project management, workplace operations, facilities services, or related fields.
- High proficiency using Microsoft Office 365, Bluebeam, and project management software such as MS Project, Jira, Wrike, or Primavera; experience with Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
- Self-driven with the ability to take full ownership and work independently.
- Strong commitment to exceeding expectations, continuous improvement, and creating efficient, appealing workplaces that support seamless operations.
- Ability to translate Tesla’s vision into actionable and innovative workplace solutions.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
