About the Opportunity

Fulton Hogan is seeking experienced Project Engineers and Project Managers interested in joining their Civil Projects team based in Napier, serving the wider Hawke's Bay region. This is an expression of interest for professionals contemplating a career move later this year or beyond. Candidates will engage in diverse civil construction projects involving reinforced concrete and heavy civil infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee or assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering civil structures and water infrastructure projects across Napier and Hawke's Bay.
  • Manage teams and subcontractors, coordinate across multiple disciplines, and optimize resources including plant and workforce for efficient project execution.
  • Contribute to the development of construction methodologies, project plans, documentation, and tender proposals.
  • Monitor and control budgets, expenses, forecasts, and program performance, including cost to complete, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance, resolve on-site challenges, and uphold stringent safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Project Portfolio Includes

  • Deep shaft construction for pump stations
  • Bridge retaining walls and complex structural works
  • Underpasses and transport structures
  • Major infrastructure and upcoming water infrastructure projects
  • Tunneling operations and confined-space structures
  • Wastewater treatment plants and water treatment facilities
  • Wharves, bridges, storage tanks, and pipelines

Candidate Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering (BE, NZCE or Level 7/8 NZQF qualification preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in civil construction project delivery; New Zealand experience advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly across project teams and ensure comprehensive handovers.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with crew members, subcontractors, clients, and internal personnel.
  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in cost control, scheduling, budget adherence, and achieving favorable commercial results.
