Overview
Elusav Recruitment is seeking a motivated Project Director to lead a major Data Center construction project in Oxfordshire, undertaken by a prominent European engineering contractor. This extensive endeavor is valued at £1 billion and offers multiple years of engagement. The Project Director will oversee all facets of the project aligned to its scope, managing the project team and liaising closely with the client to ensure the successful, safe, timely, and budget-conscious completion of the build.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and lead meetings with your project team, design team, and client stakeholders.
- Ensure timely resolution of all pending issues following meetings.
- Participate actively in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS), and Quality Assurance (QA) meetings.
- Join morning whiteboard and evening schedule discussions to track progress.
- Implement and manage the project audit plan, reviewing weekly audits, addressing open concerns with your team, and communicating results to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Construction Manager, business unit leads, and your team to analyze audit findings and trends, driving prompt closure of all identified issues.
- Ensure efficient communication and engagement surrounding all EHS alerts, including promoting related campaigns such as Toolbox Talks, stand-downs, and demonstrations to maximize workforce participation.
- Assure thorough understanding of project specifications and documentation within your team.
- Plan procurement strategies and oversee engineering development to meet deadlines.
- Verify completion of all Material Take Offs to align with subcontractor pricing.
- Maintain a commitment to quality output and continuous project improvement.
- Attend periodic meetings including Toolbox Talks (TBT), Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and DABS.
- Advance a strong Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety (QEHS) culture in partnership with the client.
- Establish training standards aligned to project needs.
- Review weekly progress updates with the project planner and implement corrective measures as necessary to keep the project on schedule, producing comprehensive project reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Engineering degree or an equivalent recognized trade qualification.
- Minimum of ten years managing large-scale construction projects as a general contractor.
- In-depth knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural engineering packages.
- Willingness to adapt working hours and patterns as required by project demands.
- Proven capability to lead teams effectively through setting clear expectations, delegation, and supervisory review.
