About the Role and Organization

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific, a leading global company with over $35 billion in revenue and industry-leading R&D investments, dedicated to driving innovation and quality. You will be part of the Materials and Structural Analysis Division within the VDS Data-to-Results (D2R) Strategic Unit, supporting advanced electron microscopy solutions that deliver high-performance imaging workflows across micro, nano, and picometer scales. The VDS unit specializes in analytical digital products that accelerate innovation in research and industrial laboratories, including software for multidimensional bioimaging visualization and image analysis.

The position is primarily based in Singapore, with onsite preference at Science Park, but also offers remote work options. A 40-hour workweek following standard office hours applies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team and software business (NanoPort) by providing expert application engineering assistance for Thermo Scientific software tools.
  • Develop, present, and conduct product demonstrations and training sessions tailored to customer needs.
  • Create and deliver proofs of concept addressing customer requirements and troubleshoot technical challenges during sales cycles.
  • Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Engage actively in internal projects focusing on technical collaboration, data exchange, and content creation.
  • Participate in quality assurance by reviewing product documentation and testing new software versions before client deployment.
  • Assist in developing technical materials and presentation content.
  • Travel approximately 50% within the APAC region, covering Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Australia-New Zealand.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent with at least two years’ experience as a pre-sales engineer.
  • Solid knowledge of image processing and/or machine learning applications.
  • Preferably experienced or knowledgeable in semiconductor imaging technologies; experience in life sciences or materials sciences imaging is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with commercial or open-source imaging software solutions such as Avizo, Amira, VG Studio Max, Simpleware Scan IP, Arivis, Bitplane Imaris, ORS DragonFly, ImageJ/Fiji.
  • Programming and scripting skills in languages including C++, Python, .NET, Java, or MATLAB are preferred.
  • Knowledge in imaging technologies like FIB/SEM, TEM microscopy, 3D micro-Tomography, or confocal microscopy is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to explain complex technical subjects to specialists in relevant domains.
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization skills.
  • Experience in technical business development within commercial environments is an advantage.
