PLC Programmer - Bangalore (Whitefield)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to develop and maintain control systems in diverse platforms focused on water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role requires proficient hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs along with HMI and SCADA programming across various tools such as ControlLogix, RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk View (Machine or Site Edition), and TIA Portal.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, program, and configure PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Configure and test PLC data and IO networking components.
• Interpret engineering documents including P&IDs, electrical schematics, process design guidelines and communications architectures.
• Engage proactively in project teams and meetings to gather necessary programming deliverables.
• Adhere to customer contracts and specifications, ensuring compliance.
• Design process control strategies prioritizing operator and equipment safety.
• Manage project budgets, scopes, and schedules; report risks and opportunities promptly.
• Lead and guide automation programming resources for project execution.
• Maintain professional communication with diverse audiences regarding technical matters.
• Support field service teams during commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
• Implement and uphold standard programming practices as per organizational guidelines.
• Execute projects involving various water treatment technologies including Ion Exchange, Ultra Filtration, Membrane Bioreactors, Reverse Osmosis, and related processes.
• Participate in customer acceptance testing such as FAT and SAT and other system checkouts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders from design review to factory testing stages.
• Lead initiatives to enhance the automation team and overall business processes independently.
• Travel occasionally (approximately 15%) for client and site visits.

Experience & Requirements

• 3 to 8 years of experience programming Rockwell and Siemens PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for process control applications.
• Experience with automation testing in simulation and/or real environments.
• Ability to interpret detailed process control documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication along with problem-solving skills.
• Capability to adhere to established procedures and standards and innovate new concepts within those frameworks.

Deliverables

Produce comprehensive PLC-SCADA/HMI control system documentation including control narratives, philosophies, logic diagrams, cause and effect analyses, and functional descriptions.

Additional Information

This position involves working closely with a variety of water treatment technologies and requires maintaining high-quality programming standards as per corporate practices. Occasional client-facing activities and troubleshooting support during field commissioning are integral aspects of this role.
