Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily specialty pharmacy processes such as intake, benefits verification, prior authorization follow-ups, financial aid arrangement, and prescription order management.
- Delegate assignments, provide guidance to team members, monitor performance metrics, and uphold organizational policies.
- Measure and analyze key performance indicators including turnaround times, claims processing success, call handling effectiveness, dispensing precision, shipment schedules, and inventory accuracy.
- Detect and resolve operational obstacles, escalate complex issues as necessary, and promote workflow improvements.
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, payers, distribution channels, and customer service to guarantee compliant and prompt service delivery.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures, quality controls, and documentation supporting accreditation, privacy, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by refining training content, enhancing processes, and validating operational upgrades.
- Manage specialty inventory including temperature-sensitive and controlled substances, conducting reconciliations, cycle counts, and addressing discrepancies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, pharmacy operations, business, or a related area, or equivalent professional background.
- At least three years of experience in pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, healthcare services, or pertinent sectors.
- Preferable prior leadership or supervisory experience in operational settings.
- Familiarity with pharmacy workflows, compliance regulations, and quality management practices.
- Strong analytical skills with experience monitoring performance indicators and enhancing processes.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork within and outside the organization.
- Ability to manage competing priorities efficiently in a dynamic and detail-focused environment.
- Additional credentials such as project management certification, pharmacy technician registration, or pharmacist licensure are advantageous.
